Recently I witnessed a psychic cold reading on my radio show. I quickly played more music and got her out the door. To me a cold reading is when the psychic gives a reading that is “the obvious”. They can fool the unsuspecting – and some of these people can be very convincing.
In many cases a person is looking for a reading because of changes they might want to see happen in their life. Or they are at a down point and need guidance – so they might be desperate for any good news or future opportunities. Most people want to know about their family, money, career, travel and love life. And as soon as a psychic mentions one of these their interest is triggered.
As human beings we love conversation (esp if it is about us) and before the reading starts a client may offload many things unintentionally. And unfortunately for us a deceiving psychic may actually encourage this.
The psychic may start fishing for details and ask vague questions or give statements. Beware of statements the psychic makes as they are really questions presented another way.
Psychic : There’s been an upset in the family.
Psychic : There’s one sibling you’re not as close to as the others.
Psychic : That thing you’ve been keeping secret all these years.
How to Avoid a Psychic’s Cold Reading
Throughout these pages I suggest to look for referrals. Many on line companies will have star ratings and comments. I know the on-line companies will dump a Psychic quick smart if the ratings are low. The same as real life: the gossip trail is scattered with mediocre psychics. Or check the psychic forums for help.
Psychic Cold Reading: Examples
Client : I’ve been married for ten years. Psychic: Yes, I can see you have been married.
Client : I sense danger all the time. Psychic: I can see you’ve experienced that for some time now.
Client : I have a new partner. Psychic: Please don’t tell me, I had that written down already.
Psychic Medium Tracey Lee says she doesn’t call it a cold reading she calls it cheating. She suggests to be aware what information we give a psychic. But if we are too guarded and analyse every word we may block them from giving a true and fair reading. She says the key is to watch what we say. If a client offers information Tracey asks them to stop so she can do the reading.
Many new psychics see the big lights and money and want it all now. They will do anything to get to the top – if cold reading works they will naturally use it. As I have mentioned throughout this website a psychic in high places doesn’t necessarily mean a great reader. Yes, they might be good entertainers but some are not good psychics.
It always pays to shop around for a good psychic. If you experience a psychic cold reading either face to face or on line you can certainly end the reading. That’s not what you paid for.
