Discovering how to be psychic is an adventure in itself – you may have had some premonition or unexplained events that have brought you here. And like learning a new language this takes “time and practice”. Maybe friends have made comments on your intuitive abilities. If someone advertises that you can learn this in a week – dismiss it quickly. This is your journey and it is worth finding out what others have done before you.
Run from anyone who offers a quick fix. Can we learn how to predict the future? Some say we have that gift already, we just need to nurture it. Mentors, guides, meditation and peace of mind seem to be part of the recipe. Psychic is a very general term and you might want to research the unique gifts that many psychics have e.g. clairvoyance, mediumship, channelling and psychometry.
Most psychics I know say they have always had their gift. Some were encouraged in their childhood, some were not. Many developed their skills by meeting the right people and practicing meditation. Some attend spiritualist churches. And others developed techniques for contacting spirit guides. A practical book on meditation might help. Buddhist nun Kathleen McDonald published a great book “How to Meditate”.
Psychics often tell me of their early days – where they thought they were “losing it” – until they met with like minded souls – and then discovered they had a gift – “am I psychic” changed to “I am psychic”.
This gift could become your passion and your life. Now, how to be psychic? It’s not unlike developing anything else:
- meditation
- take lessons
- practice, practice, practice
- explore
- meet others who share your passion
- become acquainted with other tools & techniques
- attend workshops, seminars and shows
Learn from the best – find a psychic you admire and trust. Attend their classes. Go to their platform shows. Read their books. They will be the best guide for you. They too have mentors. It doesn’t mean you will become a clone – you will develop and explore your own style.
Some Great Tips on How to be Psychic
- Calm your mind
I presents psychics on my radio show each week. Before they take calls they have some quiet time. Usually in meditation. There are many books and courses on meditation but it basically boils down to quietening the mind. The objective in meditation is to slow the brain waves. Some call this Alpha Meditation. - Record your dreams
Start writing in a journal as soon as you wake – before the dreams disappear. The primary language of the subconscious is imagery – so record what images and stories come up. You may find meaning in the repeated dreaming of symbols, people, places and events. Look for patterns as you explore your journal. If your writing is like mine on awakening – you will also need a course in heiroglyphics to decipher. The Woo Woo Diva has also written an interesting page on dreaming. - Learn tarot card spreads and meanings
Some study the traditional meanings of the major and minor arcana and read by them. Many psychics develop their own meanings – it is about trusting your psychic abilities. You will come to intuitively know your own tarot card meanings. - Record creative inspiration
As a creative solution appears always give thanks. Shakti Gawain’s book Creative Visualisation has great exercises on how to kick start your creativity. All these will help you become psychic – and increase your awareness. - Record psychic moments
There are many unexplained things in our lives. Keep a record of things you sense e.g. you know before a friend telephones; you smell a fragrance that connects to someone passed; you see a certain number or numbers repeatedly. - Trust your Intuitive Self
Note when you do not trust that first thought. Why did you not trust it? Record instances where you have trusted your intuition. - Look for psychic jobs
New age shops, fairs and psychics all need help. If you volunteer your services for a day a week you will start making contacts. It doesn’t matter what you do but you will gain valuable insight. - Trust your Spirit Guides
As you meet more and more psychics or those “in tune” with their psychic development your knowledge will grow. You could be wondering “who is my spirit guide”. The short answer is your guide is with you now – and could be waiting for you to ask.
There are no set rules on how to be psychic – shop around – ask the best. Some people want to develop psychic powers, although most psychics feel uncomfortable with the word “power”.
Your gift is worth developing and it will take time to perfect it. The more time you spend asking, reading and experiencing will help build a strong foundation for you.
You are worth it. Stop wondering how to be psychic and allow yourself the opportunity to be one.
